The number one activity at Yurtopia Wimberley is resting and relaxing! Specializing in the art of just sitting; listening to the birds, watching for shooting stars, or napping in a hammock. The perfect place to embrace your bliss. Cue a scene from Eat, Pray, Love.
Ann-Tyler, co-owner of @yurtopiawimberley, texted us the code for the large private gate to enter the property. Immediately feeling fancy, we drove up and down a winding dirt road through the brush and up to the Hilltop yurts for a tour. Lena Ger (pictured below) is one of 3 hilltop yurts meant for a quiet, adults-only atmosphere.
It was mid-December and we had the River Bluff yurts all to ourselves. These four gers (ger means yurt in Mongolian) are designed to be a full group glamping retreat offering three yurts for accommodations and one for inside dining for a group of up to 9 guests.
Our yurt was beautiful and spacious and included just enough. The best part was the private hammock & outdoor shower.
Outdoor picnic tables provided the choice of game night or smores in the common area. The outdoor kitchen was equipped to cook a great family meal and included a grill and wood smoker.
We hiked down to the river at sunset and opted for dinner at a local BBQ restaurant not far from camp. That night we were gifted a bottle of champagne from the owners and enjoyed it in the heated hot tub before bed.
These yurts are so good they've become the #1 glamping destination in Texas Hill Country! It's an ideal experience for romance novels and travel bloggers.
