Hotel Luna Mystica was out of this world. There was definitely some inter-galactic excitement when we arrived. It was golden hour! Located next door to an Earthship micro-brewery and in the middle of nowhere. It really did feel like we were on another planet among vintage trailers that were teleported to this icy mountain oasis.
What really got me was the story behind the 1961 "Sundance" Airstream that was our dwelling for the night. Via hotellunamystica.com - "Sundance has arrived and he’s not here to play games. This western icon is best known for his time spent with his partner in crime, Butch Cassidy. After running from the Bolivian government and barely surviving a severely out-numbered shoot out, Sundance decided it was time to put his pistols down and find peace in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Don’t let his outlaw past misguide you though. His western hospitality is sure to please anyone looking for a warm and cozy adventure in Taos, New Mexico. With a queen bed, convertible dinette, full bathroom, and beautiful mountain views Sundance is perfect for any solo gun slinger, or team of train-hopping bank robbers looking for a quiet place to lay their heads for the evening."
SOLD! I mean, who doesn't want to pretend to be an outlaw, right? It was the perfect snow-kissed night with take-out from a local & authentic Mexican restaurant. I stayed cozy with this blanket I found at a local Southwestern goods market. Taos has the perfect mix of eating, dining, art galleries & NATURE obviously!
Just a few miles from camp was the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument with breathtaking views of an 800 ft. deep gorge created with layers of volcanic ash. Ski Taos Ski Valley in the winter & horseback ride or whitewater raft in the summer. Taos is incredible!
